fashion book: sleepless gliding over city lights

photographs from a spread i came across in Tatler magazine a few months ago. i don't remember the photographer but i love the classic 50s mademoiselle theme and the vintage, textured effect the spread has rather than the usual glossy touch

Inspiration: ballet flats with ankle straps. swimsuit bikini in the colour yellow: i want one for this summer, but probably in a mustard yellow shade. wide-legged jumpsuits: i'm curious to try them out. they almost look like a maxi dress because the trousers are so wide. nude colours: in a combination of different materials. my favourite this summer is lace crochet. i have my eye on these Anna Sui shorts...cute right? strings of pearls: a must have in your jewellery box. they automatically jazz up your look. they could be real or unreal, it doesn't matter. deep red: ah, what a beautiful colour for an evening out in city..xx

dare to show of your midriffs this summer? the trend is back from the 90's where all our favourite girl bands wore cropped tops on stage and in music videos. the midriff trend has settled in for this season and is being worn by many celebrities such as Rihanna, Eliza Doolittle, Alexa Chung to show off their curves. designers such as Versace and Yvest Saint Laurent are focusing more on revealing the waist in a sophisticated manner.

light of a heavy glow

f21 playsuit, h&m boots and belt, vintage ring and sunglasses, urban outfitters sweater

on a late wednesday afternoon day before yesterday, my sister and i decided to have some fun and test out her nikon camera while enjoying a bit of sunshine. playsuits are definitely going to be a summer staple for me. they're adorable. i'm aiming to get an awesome selection to take with me for when i go on holiday. i paired this cotton playsuit with a light comfy sweater. i enjoy wearing loose sweaters, jackets, blazers, especially if they have funky sleeves or have a worn out look to them. in the case of this particular checkered one, the loose fit, slouchy shoulders and longish length work to make it a perfect cover up to throw on with anything, on an unpredictable weather day. you can't possibly go wrong... xx

Cannes: red carpet looks

these two were my favourite looks from the red carpet. the jumpsuit isn't something i would typically wear but i'm fond of the detailing on it, such as the waist bow, silver sequencing,  the baby doll collar, and the cuffs at the bottom of the pants. selma hayek looks insanely beautiful in her dazzling Gucci number. i like the bustier bodycon top half as it contours her body well, and the pleated bottom half adds an elegant touch to the gown. is it just me or do both women have a crazy resemblance? xx

Mariano Vivanco delivers stunning shots for May's african inspired editorial of Vogue Russia. how beautiful are the accessories used in this shoot? i love the bold jewellery used and played around with to match the colourful swimwear. however, my attention was initially drawn towards the over-sized turbans ... xx

taking it to the velvet clove

i feel h&m's totally stepped its game up as a brand over the last two seasons. they're adopting more runway styles and focusing on their designs as opposed to before. i couldn't resist buying this beautiful dress a couple of months ago. the knot at the back and unusual layering adds delicacy to this pale pink piece. i paired the dress with contrasting accessories in black to draw more attention to it. i absolutely adore these velvet wedges. they're the most comfortable pair i have in my closet and are perfect to wear on a night out when i am not in the mood to dress up.
